The Year 9 course is designed to put students in the perfect position to commence their GCSE studies in earnest and to foster a life-long love of the study of history.
There is a separate Parents’ Guide for each module of the course. Each Parents’ Guide contains everything that a parent should need to offer practical support to the student.
There are 17 lessons in the Year 9 course and seven tutor-marked assignments, including an end-of-year exam. The module titles, each with one assignment, are as follows:
- Module 1 Black America
- Module 2 The role of the individual
- Module 3 Divided Ireland
- Module 4 Hot war, cold war
- Module 5 How and why did the Holocaust happen?
- Module 6 Twentieth-century medicine
- Module 7 From Aristotle to the atom

Course price
The course fee for a year of our KS3 History course is £325.
You may pay using our interest-free easy payment scheme. Pay a £65 deposit followed by eight monthly instalments of £32.50.

As students work through a course they have support from a qualified tutor that has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a degree in education. The course fee includes
- Printed and online course materials so you can study in multiple ways
- The marking and feedback of a series of assignments marked by your personal, PGCE-qualified tutor
- The marking of a past paper included in the course
- Telephone and email support from your personal tutor to assist your understanding of the course materials
Prior learning required?
There are no specific prior learning requirements and no assumption that any particular historical knowledge has already been gained, although the Year 9 course builds on topics and skills that have been developed in the Year 7 and Year 8 courses. There are no final examinations and no formal assessment at KS3 level.
