Each module has been mapped to the Key Stage 3 national curriculum. There are also cross-curricular links to other key subjects such as History and IT. There is a separate Parents’ Guide for each module of the course. Each Parents’ Guide contains everything that a parent should need to offer practical support to the student.
Alongside the course materials, students have the opportunity to watch a number of films on the internet, all produced by a company called Twig. Your course fee includes a subscription to Twig World so you can watch every video for free!
There are 23 lessons in the Year 9 course and eight tutor-marked assignments, plus an end-of-course examination to conclude Key Stage 3 studies as a whole. The module titles, each with one assignment, are as follows:

- Module 2 Weather systems

Prior learning required?
There are no specific prior learning requirements and no assumption that any particular geographical knowledge has already been gained. Nonetheless, it is advantageous for students to have completed the Year 7 and Year 8 courses before tackling Year 9. (Topics covered in Year 7 include water and weather, settlements, shopping, earth’s structure, rivers and farming. Year 8 topics are maps, climate and biomes, population and migration, earthquakes, coasts, tourism, natural resources and Russia.) There are no final examinations and no formal assessment at KS3 level.
